SYNOPSIS –
Accomplished physicians DR. DALE FLEMING and DR. KAYA FLEMING have finally found their dream home—a stately historic house in the seemingly idyllic community of Media, Pennsylvania. The interracial couple expects the quiet suburb to be the perfect place to begin their new life and raise their unborn child. But behind the manicured lawns and welcoming smiles lies a deadly secret.
The morning after they move in, Dale and Kaya discover a racist warning taped to their front door. Two sympathetic police officers take their statement, but without witnesses or evidence, there is little they can do.
Then Kaya finds a disturbing doll hidden inside a closet, its body marked with what appears to be blood. Dale dismisses it as something left behind by the previous owners and throws it away. That night, violent pounding awakens them. When Dale opens the front door, the discarded doll is waiting on the steps—with a noose around its neck.
The officers who respond this time show little concern. One coldly suggests that Dale and Kaya move. Terrified for their unborn child, Kaya wants to leave immediately. Dale refuses to be driven from the home they worked so hard to earn, but as the threats escalate, protecting his family becomes more important than standing his ground. He reluctantly agrees to move.
While Kaya begins packing the next morning, NANCY RANDALL, the warm and gracious president of the neighborhood welcoming committee, arrives with a homemade cake. Her friendly visit quickly turns unsettling when she reveals that three couples occupied the house during the previous year—two minority couples and one gay couple.
When Kaya asks what happened to them, Nancy calmly replies, “They’re all dead.”
Before Dale and Kaya can react, Nancy’s two grown sons emerge from hiding and drop ropes around their necks. Fighting for their lives, Dale and Kaya use their mixed martial arts training to break free and overpower the men. Nancy draws a gun, but Kaya disarms her with a devastating punch.
Bleeding and enraged, Nancy unleashes a racist and homophobic tirade, confessing that she and her sons murdered the previous residents to “protect” their neighborhood. Then, without warning, Nancy clutches her chest and collapses from a heart attack.
Dale and Kaya hesitate. The woman dying at their feet just tried to murder them and their unborn child. But they are doctors, bound by an oath to save lives. As Dale calls 911, Kaya begins emergency treatment—saving the life of the woman who wanted to end hers.
The following morning, Dale and Kaya open their door to find a crowd of white neighbors gathered outside. They insist they knew nothing about the murders or what Nancy and her sons had done to the other couples. They beg the new couple not to leave.
But after everything Dale and Kaya have endured, they don’t know if the smiling faces can be trusted—and they are left to wonder whether Nancy and her sons were the only monsters living next door.
