Why Rebirth Is More Than a Movie. It’s a Movement.

Award-winning filmmaker Jillian Bullock is set to begin production in October on her next feature film, Rebirth—a raw, unflinching story that confronts domestic violence through the transformative world of boxing.

Jillian isn’t just bringing this story to the screen—she is fully embodying it. Serving as the film’s writer, director, and producer, she will also portray the lead female role, a character forged through trauma and rebuilt through resilience, discipline, and grit.

Known for creating hard-hitting films that tackle difficult subject matters head-on, Jillian has never believed cinema’s job is simply to entertain. For her, storytelling is a responsibility. A catalyst. A way to shine light into places many would rather keep hidden.

“With Rebirth, the goal isn’t just to move audiences emotionally,” Jillian says. “It’s to educate them. To empower them. And to let survivors know they are not alone—and that transformation is possible.”

At its core, Rebirth explores what happens after the violence stops. The aftermath. The healing. The rebuilding of identity. By weaving together the physical intensity of combat sports with the psychological journey of survival, the film reframes strength—not as domination, but as reclaiming one’s power.

Jillian believes that when stories are told honestly, they don’t end when the credits roll. They linger. They spark conversations. They challenge perceptions. They change lives.

That is the mission behind Rebirth.
To start a dialogue.
To break the silence around domestic violence.
And to remind audiences that even from the deepest trauma, something powerful can rise.

Rebirth isn’t just a movie.
It’s a movement.

DIRECTOR’S STATEMENT

JILLIAN BULLOCK

WRITER, DIRECTOR, PRODUCER, ACTRESS, FIGHT CHOREOGRAPHER

Rebirth is a very personal story, which I wrote and will direct this year. When I was younger, I was involved in a couple of domestic violence relationships. Even though I was able to fight my way out due to my background as a martial artist, there are millions of men and woman who cannot escape their abuser for a number of reasons.

Rebirth is not going to be your typical movie that involves boxing. It is a story built on forgiveness, love, respect, redemption, and faith, especially for the main character, Jewel Paige, who I portray. She is a 58 year old former teacher, who has lived in an abusive marriage for the past 10 years.

The movie will deal with a hard hitting topic - domestic violence, especially intergenerational domestic violence. Passing the low self-esteem and lack of confidence down from one generation to the next. Thinking you’re not worthy of love so you accept the beatings, the verbal and mental abuse, the sexual assault.

Finding one’s voice, and in doing so, anyone who is in a domestic violent situation, can overcome the hardships, challenges and obstacles. Transforming one’s mind, body and spirit to live a happy, productive, and successful life personally and professionally.

I hope the film will ‘empower’ and ‘impact’ men and women who are experiencing domestic violence while exploring topics such as – why victims stay in abusive relationships, the psychology behind those enduring domestic violence, the path to breaking free from a toxic relationship, and those who have a “rebirth” in order to transform from a Victim to a Victor.

The transformation journey - Jewel Paige will go on her emotional journey throughout the movie as she deals with various issues in her life. Past pains and trauma. Emotional strife. Major mistakes. Lost promises. But hope for new beginnings.

Rebirth’s story is a fresh, new point of view. Something that’s never been seen or done before.

Rebirth is a love letter to survivors of domestic violence—and to anyone rebuilding their life after trauma. I decided to produce and direct Rebirth, which is about fighting back—not necessary with violence, but with faith, strength, and storytelling.

The movie will also honor those men and women who never got the chance to leave and who are no longer with us as a result.

WHY JILLIAN'S NEXT MOVIE FOCUSES ON DOMESTIC VIOLENCE

WHAT MAKES REBIRTH DIFFERENT?

You have to remember Jillian Bullock, who is directing and portraying the lead female actor, is in her early 60’s in real life. The extensive training - boxing, martial arts, strength training, cardio and endurance conditioning, and high intensity interval training - she’s doing to get in “fight shape’ to look and perform as a boxer, at her age, plus direct the movie, has never been done before in any other film.

Jillian is rewriting the rules of what’s possible, which is one of the reasons why Rebirth will be different, unique, and amazing for audiences to watch.

A great deal of publicity will surround Jillian’s training for the movie and what she eats as a vegan athlete. Videos are also constantly being posted on social media and Rebirth The Movement Youtube channel showcasing Jillian’s training and her nutrition program. She is training to look like the female version of Michael B. Jordan in those Creed movies.
