MY CANCER JOURNEY

Image Lung Cancer
Also, as the director, producer and lead female actor in the movie, my training to get in ‘fight shape’ was put on hold as I endured radiation treatment.

Image Lung Infection
Radiation was killing the cancer, but it gave me a horrible lung infection, where I had to take medication to help me heal.

After radiation treatment was completed, I was feeling nauseous, fatigued and had chronic joint pain, especially in my knees and feet, to the point where I struggled to walk on some days. I had to get more tests done to see if the cancer was completely gone.
In June 2025, I was cleared and in remission from lung cancer. However, I was still struggling with what I found out was cancer fatigue. This happens to many patients, who have cancer and are given chemo or radiation treatments. Cancer fatigue can leave a patient with several ailments, including what I was dealing with - chronic fatigue and severe joint pain. I was told this could last from two months to two years.
My doctor prescribed Oxycodone, which is a strong narcotic, to help ease the pain. I didn’t want to take that and possibly become addicted. I wanted to heal myself naturally. With a background in holistic health and wellness, I did extensive research to figure out how to heal the pain I was enduring.

Now it’s time to get back to training for Rebirth. Production has been postponed until summer 2026, which gives me one year to get in ‘fight shape’ to look like a professional boxer. Also, keep in mind that I turned 64 years old in June. So, at my age and surviving lung cancer to train like a beast for a movie is unheard of, but I definitely plan to do it.
Every morning when I look in the mirror, I recite these words out loud: A Victor’s Mindset. A Warrior’s Spirit. A Champion’s Heart.
